Surface preparation is the most important part to of any flooring installation. When installing flooring systems, both diamond grinding and shot blasting are methods used by Surface2Surface to prepare the floor prior to the installation of our surface solutions.

1. Grinding

At S2S South Florida, we use only the best surface preparation equipment providing our customers with unparalleled quality. Our grinding equipment carefully and steadily removes the damaged surface layer to reveal the undamaged and clean inner layer of concrete. This process provides the appropriate “Concrete Surface Profile” (CSP) required to actuate the proprietary migratory response of our Surface2Surfce Global epoxy system. Multi-phased Grinding is the process used for concrete polishing.

2. Shot Blasting

Shot blasting works by using an airless, centrifugal wheel that propels steel blast media at a high velocity in a controlled pattern and direction at the concrete surface. Upon impact with the surface the latent surface concrete and contaminants are removed and are captured by a vacuum powered dust reclamation unit. This is the most aggressive from of surface preparation and is used when the floor exhibits pits and tight surface valleys that must be cleaned and prepared and is only used prior to the installation of certain S2S Global products.

3. Glue Removal

Old concrete floors often have residual glue leftover from the removal of glue down carpets or vinyl floors. This residual material must be removed before any treatment can be applied to the surface. Unfortunately, old glue can be tough to remove because it bonds well to the surface. Our technicians will examine the surface carefully and determine the best way to remove the glue.

4.Crack Repair/Epoxy Injection

Concrete surfaces can develop cracks over time. This can be because of the movement of concrete due to temperature changes or due to load from heavy objects. Depending on the application, we may be able to repair the cracks saving significant costs to rectify the situation.
